What are the three best books you have ever read and what are the three worst? What made them so good or bad?

Oooo. Tough decision.

Um. I guess I'll start out with the worst.

1.) Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer. Too out there. Ick. Plot and direction of novel, I think Meyer just spoofed out whatever at the last novel.
2.) Grayson. It's like Moby Dick, only worse.
3.) The Lord of the Flies. I hated that book. Too negative for my tastes.

Best books ever.
1.) Jane Eyre By Charlotte Bronte. Mister Rochester!
2.) The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Changed my life.
3.) The Thursday Next series by Jasper Fflorde. The Eyre Affair. Tee hee.

If a friend or relative makes a racist or homophobic remark, do you tend to confront them or let it slide? Are you more likely to confront them if it offends you or someone else who seems reluctant to speak up?

Let it slide, I suppose. I am bound by subordinance and fidelity in family. There is no place for me to contront.

What's the best and worst advice you ever received? Did you follow it even if it ran counter to your gut intuition? How did it turn out?

"Take AP U.S. History! It won't look as good if you just take AP Chemistry, Honors English III, French IV and Honors Pre-Calculus. Let's not forget that you're going to eventually take the CM piano test for level 7, volunteer on the weekends, Chinese school, and clubs. Plus SATs. You better get at least a 2100 on the SATs."

...

Yeah. Awesome advice. Really. There's the B+ in APUSH to show for it. -.-;

Who is your oldest friend (i.e., the friend you have known the longest)? How often do you see or talk to each other? Do your close friends tend to stay the same year after or change over time?

His name is Nate.

I've known him since kindergarden, which makes him the oldest friend I've known (I didn't meet Tamtam until the middle of kindergarden). That's ten years as of september. Gah, I'm old. Ha ha ha.

The relationship's unique.  I guess it's largely because we go to different schools. But, I don't know.

We never really lose contact in a definite way. Sure, we'd probably go weeks or a few months without contact. But then suddenly, we'd find some way to talk. It's never awkward. I'll just spontaneously IM him one day out of the blue with some random question because I know for sure that he's a walking encyclopedia. Or, he'll probably IM me one day. I don't really know how, but it's like we were never apart at all during that time when we're busy with other stuff. We always end up back talking again of old times, what's happening now, and what we'll do later on.

I consider him my best friend and he considers me his best friend.

This would, of course, need to ignore all of our old friends assuming we like each other (I believe Am.S. made a whole epic story about our eternal love through reincarnation after reincarnation).

In honor of Nate, I end this post as he would do.

Spater!

1. I've never had a milkshake.
2. I have two pointy teeth on the top and two pointy teeth on the bottom of my mouth. If one stares long enough, they look suspiciously like they want to draw blood from a sorry bystander's throat.
3. I've got only two visible knuckles on each hand (the others just really aren't there and if they are, it's about time they started growing).

I got sick of my old creepy layout (as cool as it was, it's the only one I've had) and I changed it! Woooooot! A fresh start for summer. Ha ha ha.

I totally don't know if it's even working or not, but whatever.

Let me know if it sucks or not. ;)

If you are reading this right now, you have more luxury than someone in Iran could ever hope for right now. If you are watching TV or a video on youtube, updating your status on Facebook, Tweeting, or even texting your friend, you are lucky. If you are safe in your home, and were able to sleep last night without the sounds of screaming from the rooftops, you need to know and understand what is happening to people just like you in Iran right now.

They are not the enemy. They are a people whose election has been stolen. For the first time in a long time, a voice for change struck the youth of Iran, just as it did for many people in the United States only seven months ago. Hossein Mousavi gained the support of millions of people in Iran as a Presidential candidate. He stands for progressiveness. He supports good relations with the West, and the rest of the world. He is supported with fervor as he challenges the oppressive regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

On Friday, millions of people waited for hours in line to vote in Iran's Presidential election. Later that night, as votes came in, Mousavi was alerted that he was winning by a two-thirds margin. Then there was a change. Suddenly, it was Ahmadinejad who had 68% of the vote - in areas which have been firmly against his political party, he overwhelmingly won. Within three hours, millions of votes were supposedly counted - the victor was Ahmadinejad. Immediately fraud was suspected - there was no way he could have won by this great a margin with such oppposition. Since then, reports have been coming in of burned ballots, or in some cases numbers being given without any being counted at all. None of this is confirmed, but what happened next seems to do the trick.

The people of Iran took the streets and rooftops. They shout "Death to the dictator" and "Allah o akbar." They join together to protest. Peacefully. The police attack some, but they stay strong. Riots happen, and the shouting continues all night. Text messaging was disabled, as was satellite, and websites which can spread information such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and the BBC are blocked in the country. At five in the morning, Arabic speaking soldiers (the people of Iran speak Farsi) stormed a university in the capital city of Tehran. While sleeping in their dormitories, five students were killed. Others were wounded. These soldiers are thought to have been brought in by Ahmadinejad from Lebanon. Today, 192 of the university's faculty have resigned in protest.

Mousavi requested that the government allow a peaceful rally to occur this morning - the request was denied. Many thought that it would not happen. Nevertheless, first a few thousand people showed up in the streets of Tehran. At this point, it is estimated that 1 to 2 million people were there. Mousavi spoke on the top of a car. The police stood by. For a few hours, everything was peaceful. Right now, the same cannot be said. Reports of injuries, shootings, and killings are flooding the internet. Twitter has been an invaluable source - those in Iran who still know how to access it are updating regularly with picture evidence. People are being brutally beaten. Tonight will be another night without rest for so many in Iran no older than I am. Tonight there is a Green Revolution.
